In 2014, I was asked to produce a web commercial for Boxbee, a venture-backed startup offering short and long-term storage through a managed pickup service. Customers would order boxes online and Boxbee would collect, store and return them on request. The commercial had to walk viewers through the service in just over a minute, giving them an insight into the interface and service process.

Pre-Production & Shoot

The two-day shoot worked from a shot list developed with Boxbee’s owner and producer. It tracked the company’s van on its pickups and across the city, with on-site footage at a customer’s door and at the company’s storage facility. Primary footage was captured with a Caon 5d mark iii along with a GoPro camera for a unique persepctive.

Post-Production & Music

All post-production was done in-house, from the edit and motion graphics to the sound design and accompanying music.
Boxbee ran the commercial on YouTube as part of a paid advertising campaign, and imagery from the shoot also appeared on the company’s bus ads.
